Application Method

The application method for Handycoat EZ-Joint involves the following steps:

1. Surface Preparation: Ensure the surface is clean, dry, and free from dust, grease, and loose material. For gypsum boards, ensure that the edges are properly prepared for jointing.
2. Mixing: If necessary, dilute the compound with a small amount of water to achieve the desired consistency. Mix well before use.
3. Applying to Gypsum Board Joints:
   • Apply a thin layer of EZ-Joint over the joint using a trowel or spatula.
   • Place a strip of jointing tape (paper tape or self-adhesive mesh) over the freshly applied compound.
   • Apply another layer of EZ-Joint over the tape, ensuring it is fully covered and smooth.
4. Fixing Metal Corner Beading:
   • Apply the compound along the corner where the beading is to be placed.
   • Press the metal corner bead into the compound and apply another layer of EZ-Joint over it, smoothing it out.
5. Patching and Skimming:
   • Apply the compound to cracks, holes, or areas needing skimming with a trowel or spatula.
   • Spread it evenly to cover the imperfections or create a smooth surface.
6. Drying Time: Allow the compound to dry thoroughly. The drying time will depend on the thickness of the application, temperature, and humidity.
7. Sanding: Once dry, sand the area lightly to achieve a smooth, even finish.
8. Further Coats: If necessary, apply further coats, allowing each layer to dry and sanding between coats.
9. Final Preparation: Ensure the surface is dust-free and smooth before painting or applying further finishes.
10. Cleaning: Clean tools and equipment with water immediately after use.
